This is not like any normal motorcycle event where anyone can sign up or walk in. This is a national championship race with professional competitors and thousands of others who just want to finish. That means we are selective about who can participate. Here are some general guidelines:
- Experience - We are looking for motorcycle riders who are very experienced. Generally riders with over 10 years and 10's of thousands of miles under their belt. People who are very confident in their skills and reflexes and who have developed a refined "360 radar" of situational awareness around them.
- Riders should be comfortable riding two-up (ie. with a passenger). If you don't regularly ride with a passenger that is not a deal-breaker but you should practice before the event.
- Motorcycles - We want quality motorcycles which means larger capacity with a comfortable back seat and some kind of passenger back support. This could be a rear top box or support bar. Sidecases are optional. Motorcycles do not necessarily have to be quiet but this is preferred (this is a bicycle race and we are trying to observe the riders from behind).
- Trikes and three-wheelers are not permitted. They take up too much width and space on the course.
- Of course riders should have the proper motorcycle endorsement and insurance. It should go without saying but there are some people who don't have this (it has happened!).
Volunteers should apply using the form below. Plan on having a phone call or Zoom/Teams video call as an initial introduction and interview.
The race event is on Saturday, April 26, 2025. If you are available and want to participate please use the form below to submit your basic information.
